Texas law requires that parents give consent for their children to participate in sex education:
HOWEVER, there are many library books in Mesquite ISD school libraries that kids are checking out that are definitely sex education. This is being done without the parents giving consent for their child to receive sex education through their school library. Here are just a few of these books along with scanned pages of the books:
Notice on the next page it mentions "pregnant person" because apparently men can get pregnant, too.

Gender identity, transitioning to another gender, how to have gay and lesbian sex, abortion and birth control, rape and sexual abuse including pedophilia, etc. are also part of sex education. Obviously, kids should not be able to read these books that educate them about any aspect of sex education without their parents knowledge and consent since this is the law in Texas. The law specifies about sex education curriculum and classes. It should also obviously extend to library books.
Many of these books are not only in high schools, but they are in middle schools as well. Kids are around 11 years of age when they begin middle school and around 14 years of age when they start high school.
What else is in your child's school library? To search Mesquite ISD libraries:
Go to the district website and click on "Departments" at the top of the page.
Click on "Library Services".
Go to the Library Catalog at the bottom left of the page in the blue rectangle.
Click on the first high school.
When the Destiny catalog comes up, find the "Search Options" in blue in the top right corner. Click on it.
When the box opens, find "Location" and change it to "Mesquite ISD". You will need to change the location for every search if you want to search the entire district.
Search under "transgender", "gay", "lesbian", "abortion", "racism", "sex", "rape", etc. and see what you find. Get informed and get involved!
