"Porn Literacy" for Students
The annual SXSW EDU conference for teachers is held every year in the Spring in Austin, Texas. Teachers who teach Pre-K through college from all over the state and country attend, and some trips are even financed by their school districts. They can attend different sessions and workshops. One is about porn literacy as described by Texas Scorecard:
Here is a screenshot of the session on the SXSW EDU website:
What are SOME of the other sessions being offered to teachers and what do these sessions have to do with actually teaching reading and math so that our test scores in Texas don't continue to bottom out? What do these sessions have to do with preparing kids to be successful in life?
(They can't indoctrinate students without public education! They could have titled the above session "Why We're Against School Vouchers and School Choice")
Why are teachers at a teaching conference talking about the overturning of Roe v. Wade? What does this have to do with teaching students? Why are they talking about students as activists and supporting LGBTQ students and why we need a "World Education Service" and about "teaching politics in the deep red South"?? Are they supposed to be teaching politics or abortion? Is it their job to teach anti-racism or cultural humility or social justice? Notice how several of these sessions inform teachers about how to "counteract book bans", how to teach CRT when it's prohibited by law, and how to "disobey education gag orders".
Reading a list of their sessions coming up in March sounds like reading a list of the American Marxism talking points. Obviously, the goal of this conference is to indoctrinate and radicalize teachers so that they, in turn, can indoctrinate and radicalize their students. Is your district paying to send teachers to this conference this year? Did your district pay to send teachers last year? A phone call or a Freedom of Information Act request might be very interesting.
Get informed and get involved!
