Books in Elementary School Libraries in Irving ISD

They want even very young kids to focus on race and skin color/shades, learn the vocabulary of Critical Race Theory, fear and mistrust the police and believe that police officers shoot children, mistrust each other based on race, and --if they are white-- to dislike themselves because they are automatically racist, and ---if they are other races----to believe that no matter how hard they work they can't get ahead because of systemic racism. No child should be taught any of this, but that is what is happening in Irving ISD's library books.

Keep in mind that teachers can check out the book, read it to his/her class, and have a discussion afterwards. Some books have not been checked out because they are very new additions to the library. These books are on the shelf and available to kids and teachers. Also, when a class comes to the library, the librarian often reads a book out loud to them. and does not need to check the book out. What is your child's librarian or teacher reading out loud to the class? As you look at scanned pages from the books, pay close attention to the pictures. Pictures stay in kids' heads and influence how they think.

They WANT kids to focus on race and skin color and shades of skin color. Kids don't naturally focus on it and play with kids of all different races. So WHY do they want kids to keep focusing on race? This is part of Critical Race Theory.

The Antiracist Kid is a recently-published book, so it is just now making its way into school libraries.

Books may have different covers because publishers will remarket the book with a new more updated cover, but the contents of the book remain the same.
