Do you wonder what will happen to our water by the year 2025?
Well, Dr. Amitai Etzioni is eager to inform us. His article entitled "Mars Can Wait. Oceans Can't." appreared in the My Perspectives textbook for grade 7 published by Pearson Education, Inc. in 2020. This textbook is on the currently adopted textbooks list from TEA, and you may reference this article below in this blog. Please notice the author's bio on p. 210. He was the Senior Advisor to the White House under President Jimmy Carter, so that might tell you where his political agendas lie. I also researched online and learned that he actually has a PhD in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley and was a Professor of Sociology at Columbia for 20 years. So, he isn't a scientist with a science degree? Then, why would he be writing a science article?
In paragraph 10, he states that "Given the looming crisis of water scarcity, we badly need more efficient and and less costly methods to desalinate ocean water. By 2025, 1.8 billion people are expected to suffer from severe water scarcity, with that number jumping to 3.9 billion by 2050- well over a third of the entire global population." Where have we heard dire water scarcity predictions before? In 1970, Dr. Ehrlich said that oceans would be "as dead as Lake Erie in less than a decade" and that we would have water rationing in the United States by 1974. Also, in 1970, Peter Gunter, a North Texas State University professor, wrote, “Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.”
Finally, notice that in the article we are reading here, Professor Etzioni does not provide references for his claims. Don't research it for yourself, children. Just believe what we say. This is an example of how the Marixist elites use school textbooks to push their climate change agenda on schoolchildren. They also train children to accept information without questioning it or researching it for themselves. Listen to the experts! And while you're at it, give up your Constitutional rights to fight climate change.
