Depressing Statistics:
According to the Texas Education Agency, these are the statistics for students performing at or above grade level in 2018:
77%- 3rd Grade Reading
78%- 3rd Grade Math
69%- 6th Grade Reading
77%- 6th Grade Math
67%- High School Reading
72%- High School Math
These statistics are dismal indeed. However, the attendance rate for 2018 in all grade levels state-wide was a whopping 95.4% for the school year. It isn't that kids aren't coming to school. Attendance level is great, but you don't get trophies for showing up. So what are schools doing with our tax dollars? Why are so many students NOT performing at grade level in spite of the fact that they do attend classes?
