For beautiful black boys everywhere who believe in a better world
This book is found in a lot of elementary school libraries in Texas . I have scanned all of the pages from the book that have text.
Keep in mind that picture books are written for grades K-3 typically. As you read this ask yourself. "Should little kids be reading this? Is this appropriate for them? A teacher can read this book to the class, and what discussions might take place afterwards?"
This book focuses on the color of people's skin and activism, which are hallmarks of the CRT movement. Notice that the author does describe the five police officers killed in Dallas. However, the author doesn't mention that the shooter wanted to "kill white people" in his own words and that these officers died because of the color of THEIR skin.
