Again, race affects everything including sports, medicine, religion, politics, and education.  This is fundamental to Critical Race Theory.  The "equity" issues these students will study are the result of races still being unequal in our society.  By the time these students graduate, they will most likely have been indoctrinated in this theory and those who go on to become teachers and librarians and counselors will probably teach it to their students.
